It’s been shy of two weeks since gospel singer, and fashionista Kierra Sheard-Kelly released her debut authored book, Big, Bold and Beautiful: Owning the Woman God Made You to Be. I just completed the book/devotionals, and I must say that it is easy to see why it is considered the #1Best Seller in Teen & Young Adult Christian Devotionals & Prayer on Amazon. Big, Bold, and Beautiful follows the life lessons and experiences of the singer as she shares her encounters from her teen years to the present day as a newlywed.

One of the most enduring aspects of the book is that it comes from a genuine and transparent place, much like Kierra’s ministry and musical platform. Known for her boldness, flair, and modest nonconformity, she calls her readers (or listeners if you purchased the audiobook like me) to action regarding standing in their truth, being confident in your uniqueness, and embracing the mistakes of the past and utilizing them as lessons learned. After all, life is about sharing lessons and sharing our testimonies with others.

You don’t have to be a prophet or on any significant platform to share your story with those around you and with whom you may come in contact. Given that I, too, am a fellow millennial like Kierra, I found myself audibly “Amen
“ing and in total agreement several times throughout her book. Life has dealt me situations similar to hers, and even though there were several instances where I may not have experienced those situations exactly, I had a reference from others. Overall, I felt that this was an excellent book to release at such a time as this.

With the world in chaos over the pandemic and the “new normal” that we have been thrust into, it was refreshing to hear a positive and uplifting narrative. I’m not sure if Kierra intends to author any other future projects. Still, I’m more than confident if she does, they will be even more successful and relatable to not only her ministry followers but anyone that is blessed and lead to listening to her story. I highly recommend supporting this project for many reasons, and I hope you find peace, solace, and resolve with Big, Bold, and Beautiful; while owning the woman God made and called you to be.
